Thomas' confusion only grew from here. He was unique, yet similar to everyone in the camp? That was a very odd statement...and one that Thomas had no clue how to comment on. He didn't even know why he was here...let alone what he had in common with all these other kids. The confusion was very clear on his face as he shrugged slightly.
"Not a clue..."
He scratched the back of his head as he finally answered Chiron's question. He would glance around the room, wondering what it was he had in common with these other kids. Especially something in common that would cause them to all be at a camp like this.

"I'm assuming you've lived with a single parent your entire life, never knowing the other?" Chiron began, his arms folding across his chest; "Neither have any of the other campers here. All of you have had strange and hard lives, some even dangerous; I'm sure you've noticed yours." The centaur paused, smiling lightly. "Thomas, that other parent you've never known is one of the deities of Olympus," he said, then put a single finger to the boy's chest; "You, and all of the campers here," he glanced over his shoulder at the two golden-haired twins nearby, "them included...all of you are demigods."
Nathaniel, who had been straining to hear the centaur's conversation with that new boy, sat back, his eyebrows slightly lifted. "What?..." asked Madelaine, noting her brother's expression. The boy shook his head, his eyebrows furrowing a bit. "I'm...not too sure..." he answered; "It was a bit mumbled; but...I heard him say "parents"..." He looked to his sister, whose eyebrows were furrowed in thought as well.

Thomas' eyes widened as Chiron stated that his father was a deity of Olympus. And they only grew larger as he stated that Thomas himself, was a demigod. He sat there for a few moments, his mouth slightly held ajar. He knew that this was a crazy situation...but he had never dreamed that it would be this ridiculous.
"...my FATHER is a DEITY!?"
Well, he was about right when he said that his father must have had a good reason for not being around. Being a god was pretty much a huge excuse to make yourself scarce. Though, it was still strange nonetheless. He looked around the room at everyone, letting his gaze settle on the two twins for a moment. He would look back to Chiron after a moment, seemingly calm.
"...they must be pretty...uhh....busy."

Chiron worked hard to stifle a laugh, covering his mouth with a hand until the amusement subsided. "Yes, you...you could say that." He shook his head, the smile lingering as the laughter subsided. "But before you ask who your father is," he continued, pausing and holding up a finger; "I can't tell you that. I'm sorry."
Nathaniel frowned, standing again with his sister this time. "Maybe we should go talk to them..." Madelaine suggested, getting a shrug in response from her brother. "I guess... I'd hate to interrupt, but..." Nathaniel shook his head, his eyebrows furrowed; "If he's talking about parents, maybe he knows something about..." He looked at his sister, and she nodded in understanding. The two began walking toward Thomas and Chiron.

Thomas scratched the back of his head. He couldn't tell him who his father was? This was just getting stranger by the second. Why couldn't he tell him which one of the gods had done the horizontal tango with his mother?
".....note to self: Attempt to keep that image out of head."
He looked at Chiron, more than slightly confused. If he couldn't figure out who his father was...then why was he here? Thomas heaved a heavy sigh and waited a moment before asking the oh so obvious question.
"...why can't you tell me that?"

Chiron sighed; the question was asked anyway--of course, it normally was, and after all these years, the old centaur still said what he did. Old habits. "Your father has to claim you as his son," he answered simply; "So until then, you and the other two in this room will be staying in Cabin 11 with the Hermes children and the rest of the undetermined." He paused, looking out the door and sighing. "I've no time left to linger here. Could you please do me the favor of explaining everything to the other new campers?" Without waiting for an answer, Chiron trotted out the door, breaking into a canter as he hit the grass outside and disappearing around the corner.
Nathaniel had just gotten to where Thomas and Chiron were, when the centaur dashed away suddenly. He rolled his eyes, sighing. "Oh, that figures."

Thomas resisted the urge to shout expletives at the centaur as he bounded out of sight. He had to be CLAIMED? How long would that take? And more importantly, WHAT would it take? He sighed slightly as he turned around to spot the other new campers that he would have to explain everything to.
He scratched the back of his head and looked at them for a few moments, trying to put together the proper words in his head. Though, while that was going on....introductions were in order.
"Hiya. I'm Thomas Truesdale. The uhh...centaur guy told me to explain all the stuff he told me to you. But bare with me...I'm a little bad at explaining complete gibberish."

Nathaniel looked cross, but settled his expression as he looked to Thomas, his arms folded. Madelaine came across a bit nicer-looking, smiling and nodding her head at this new boy. "Don't mind him," she said, nudging her brother; "I'm Madelaine. Nathaniel is my brother."
Nathaniel waved a hand nonchalantly, every so often glancing out the door. "Can we at least walk and talk outside?" he asked, stepping toward the door hopefully; "This place smells like hospital."

Thomas raised an eyebrow as he noticed the boys sour disposition. He decided to shrug it off and look over to the girl named Madelaine...who was much nicer. He smiled slightly and nodded before he looked towards the door of the building.
"Sure thing, guy."
He would make his way out of the infirmary and found a spot near that area that he deemed worthy to start explaining at. He sighed slightly as he waited for them to get settled. This was probably going to be just as strange for them as it was for him.
"Okay...like I said. This sounds crazy....but take a look around you. What I'm about to say...isn't exactly strange in comparison."

Madelaine smiled, seeming amused. Her brother was looking off toward the camp buildings, his hands in his pockets; he eyed the place with a bit of distaste as his sister spoke. "Don't worry about being all technical... Just basic stuff will do; you don't seem like you're keen on explanations." Nathaniel turned his gaze briefly from the camp to glance at Thomas, but said nothing, waiting on the words from the boy.

Thomas nodded. He definitely would have rather been doing something else. Anything else as a matter of fact--just so long as he didn't have to repeat the crazy words spoken to him by a centaur. He sighed slightly before he finally decided to get on with it.
"Alright. So it turns out that we're all from single parent families, correct? Well, everyone in this camp....is the child of a Greek god. As strange as it is to hear that a parent did the dirty with a Greek god.....it's true. So apparently we're all demigods or something like that."
With that out of the way, Thomas smiled.
"Any questions?"

Nathaniel had turned his full attention to Thomas now, his golden eyes narrowing with each passing second the boy explained. He blinked a few times, opening his mouth to speak once or twice before actually speaking: "...You're kidding, right? Geeze, I actually thought I might could learn something about my dad for once... That's insane. My dad's probably just some old pilot somewhere; according to Mom..." Madelaine looked at her brother with a light sigh, shaking her head. "Nate...seriously, look around you," she said; "Why would something else surprise you? We've been chased by a chimaera, led by a satyr, and greeted by a centaur; I--" "Believe him?" "I might..."

"It is really that hard to believe after all the things you've seen today?" Thomas asked with a smile smile. "I mean, it would explain a lot for me anyway. Though, I'm kinda ticked that me and my mom were basically left to fend for ourselves for all this time and I just now figure out that my dad isn't some raging lunatic or hobo out on the street." he added. Thomas shrugged, deciding that it was best to leave it at that and continue on with the so called 'explanation'.
"Anyway. That's about all I know myself. Except the fact that we don't get to know who our parent is. We have to wait until they CLAIM us. Awesome, right?" said the boy.

Nathaniel looked at Thomas again, his eyebrows furrowing. "...So not only did they not, y'know...care for us as parents," he concluded irately, "they get to claim us whenever they feel like. This place gets better and better..." Madelaine fell silent, the only noise being her heavy sigh as she ran a hand through her golden hair.

Thomas shook his head, "Well...they got us here, didn't they? That must mean that they care about us to some extent, right?" he asked, shrugging slightly. "I can understand why you're in such a bad mood about it. But it's not going to get you anywhere." he added. He leaned against the tree he was standing under and looked up at the sky.
"Anyway...since we don't know who our parents are....we get to stay in Cabin 11 or something like that." he said.
