"Cabin 11...?" Maddie turned her head, lifting a hand over her eyes to shield them from the sun. Across the grounds, near the water's edge, were massive buildings, all aligned beside one another in a large U shape; each one appeared different, but as Maddie's gaze fell on one of them near the far end, she noticed quite a few campers filing in and out. "...Is it that one, you think?" she asked no one in particular; "There seem to be a lot of people in there."
Nate let out a small sigh. "It would've helped if the centaur had shown us the cabin," he mused quietly; "But maybe that's 11."

Thomas scratched the back of his head and looked over toward the cabins, wondering which one they would be staying in as well. "Well, he did say that all the all the kids who are undetermined stay in that cabin...so I would assume it would be the one with the most people..." he said after a moment. With a small nod, he looked back over at the two of them. "So yeah. That's more than likely it." He looked over at Nate as he sighed and listened to him speak. "You should try and smile a bit, guy! You're practically oozing pessimism! Buck up!" With that said, he pushed himself from the tree and stared toward the cabin's direction more intently. "...I just wonder how long I'll have to stay there..." he thought. Shrugging that thought off for the moment, he decided to dwell on the now. He put on a happy face and turned to the two of them--remembering the topic at hand. "The only way we're gonna know for sure is to head on over!" He smiled. "And it'll mean we're one step closer to finding out who our missing parents are!" he said. He thought for a moment before he decided to speak again, "...it's strange to know that I'm not the only person who's parent did unspeakable things with a god..." he added. He laughed nervously as several others passing by gave him an odd look. "Ehehehe....anyway...shall we go?" he asked before taking a few steps forward.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

Nate raised an eyebrow. "I wasn't really trying to be pessimistic that time," he admitted, then shrugged.
Maddie giggled a bit at Thomas's statement. "Unspeakable?" she repeated, amusement rising in her voice; "I'm sure it wasn't that bad... The way Mom talked, Dad seemed like a decent guy." She paused, considering it. "Though it is a bit awkward to think about." The girl shook it off, her golden eyes turning back to the cabins again. She started forward at a bouncy walk, grabbing her brother's hand as she passed him and tugging him along behind her.

Thomas quickly made his way toward the cabins with his hands behind his head in a leisurely manner. "Oh yeah! I'm sure all the gods are decent 'people'. I just mean that...it's just REALLY hard to actually comprehend my mom having....relations with a god." he said before he continued on. "Yep. I'm scarred for life. I'm sure of it." A few moments later, he turned his head slightly to glance back at the two of them. "...so if ya don't mind me askin'....where are you two fr-?" he started to ask before turning his head back around just in time to narrowly avoid bumping into someone by stepping to the side quickly. He laughed nervously and mouthed an apology before hurrying forward. "...guess I need to be more careful. My mom always told me that I don't pay enough attention to what's goin' on around me." He let out a loud laugh before grinning. "But anyway...back to my question! Where are the two of ya from?" he asked without looking back a second time. He paused for a moment--his mind wandering to memories of his own home in Brooklyn. "You sound like ya come from the East Coast....am I right?" he asked after a moment. He took another chance at a glance back at them and smiled. "I'm from Brooklyn, myself." He turned back around and scratched the back of his head. "...nice place if you can get passed all the muggings and stuff."[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

Maddie laughed again, still tugging her brother behind her by the wrist; he seemed to go along with it without much fighting, as if he were used to such. They both paused as Thomas nearly walked into someone, and even Nate smiled a bit in amusement. His sister, leaping at the opportunity, prodded him in the middle, causing the boy to double over defensively, an arm wrapped around his stomach. "Don't do tha-at!" he exclaimed, narrowly avoiding another tickling prod. "See, he can smile," said Maddie matter-of-factly, finally leaving her sibling be; "You just have to catch it."
Nate rolled his eyes, but they both stopped as Thomas continued his question, interrupted before. "Manhattan," the twins answered in unison. "Everywhere has bad places, though," Maddie added; "I'm sure Brooklyn's not that bad."

Thomas laughed slightly at her comment. "Well, let's hope it happens more often!" he said with a large grin on his face. He walked a bit more before he nodded. "Yeah, I thought so! I think I have a cousin in Manhattan..." he replied before he moved onward toward their destination. He took notice of his surroundings after a bit, glancing at passersby. It was funny how so many other people here were in the same position as him. "Well, it's good to know that I'm not alone here." he thought. Wanting to hurry up and get a decent pair clothes on, he decided to walk swiftly towards the cabin. Having momentarily forgotten about his hunger, he was surprised when his stomach stomach started growling as if to say, 'FEED ME'. This was the most prominent thing on his mind--until he heard it. "I'm sure Brooklyn's not that bad." "OH-HO HO! Quite the opposite, Maddie!" He shook his head and held back a bit of laughter. "Well, I'm exaggerating a bit. It's not a terrible place to live. But we've got a lot of theft and other...more serious things going on if ya catch my drift." he replied with a small nod. He shrugged a bit before he moved on. "But, if there's a place that'll toughen ya up...it's Brooklyn!" he finished with a large smile. After a few more moments, they had finally arrived at their destination--Cabin 11...or so they hoped. Thomas paused at the front for a moment or two before he scratched the back of his head and looked around. "Ehhhh.....what do we do now? Should we just go in?" he asked after a moment, looking slightly puzzled.[/justify][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

"You scoot on in!"
A voice came from behind the three as they stood at the door of the large cabin. Maddie squeaked a bit in surprise, clamping a hand over her mouth and turning about; Nate did the same, just without the squeal. There stood another boy, a bit taller than the three of them, a wide grin spread across his face. Nate lifted an eyebrow. Maddie gave a shy, unsure smile. "You guys must be the newest newbies, right?" the boy asked, holding a hand out to whoever would grab it; "I'm Luke; son of Hermes and head of this cabin."

Thomas laughed as the two of them seemed startled about the surprise. "A little startled, huh?" he asked the two of them before he turned to look at the person standing before them. The first thing he noticed was the large grin--he liked this guy already. He nodded slightly as the boy asked them if they were new. He would have said something here, but before he knew it there was a hand outstretched in an attempt to be friendly and a name was being stated. 'Luke', huh? That was one of the coolest names he had ever heard. "Nice ta meetcha, Luke! I'm Thomas Truesdale!" He outstretched his own hand and shook Luke's vigorously. He thought for a moment after he mentioned that he was a son of Hermes. He thought for a second before it registered. "Hermes, huh? God of travel and all that jazz, right?" he asked--though he already knew the answer. He had spent a bit of free time in his life reading up on greek mythology, so it was nice to know that it had come in handy. Suddenly a thought came to him again--who would his father be? And how long would it take for him to be claimed--as a matter of fact...what if he was never claimed? He silently dismissed thise silly thoughts. There was no room for them in his happy little world. He would deal with that when the time came! "Happy thoughts, Thomas!" he thought to himself. "Well...I think I'll just head in and check the place out!" Thomas would slowly make his way into the cabin and look around, wondering where he would be sleeping at. Looking back, he gave a large grin to the three of them. "Nice place!"[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

"Yeahhhh..." Luke ushered the twins on into the cabin, trying his best to catch up to Thomas with the other two. "You guys will be staying here a while," the boy continued, waving his hands around the room; it was filled with people, but there seemed to be enough beds and space to fit even more if it was necessary. "This is the Hermes cabin. His kids live here, and the cabin also welcomes all the newbies to the camp--Hermes is the god of travelers, so it's only right." He paused, eyeing Thomas. "He's also the god of thieves, so I'd watch out for my brothers and sisters." He grinned widely again, laughing and shaking his head.
"So what are the other cabins for...?" asked Nate, glancing out the open doors at the other buildings near this one. "Well, the way the camp works is...when anyone comes here new to the camp, they automatically get sorted here for a while," he gestured around the room; "They stay here until they're determined," Nate shifted uneasily, but said nothing; "But once you're determined, you're put into your proper cabin with the rest of your siblings; unless you're Hermes's kid, then you just stay here." He clapped Nate on the back, causing the boy to stumble a bit, but he remained silent nonetheless.
"So..." Luke looked to Maddie and Nate; "What are your names? You guys look really similar." "We're twins," Maddie told him; "I'm Madelaine and he's Nathaniel--" "Call me Nate," the boy interjected; "She's Maddie..." "--Yeah, Maddie and Nate Delaire. We're from Manhattan..."
"Well, Nate and Maddie," Luke said, clapping his hands together, "and Thomas, welcome to Camp Half-Blood! Since you guys are gonna stay in here, you can just find an empty bed and put your stuff there, if you have any stuff."

Thomas continued to glance around the cabin, making a note of some of the people in the area. "Well...this won't be such a bad place to stay..." he thought to himself as he nodded slightly. At least he wouldn't have to worry about getting mugged on a daily basis! A small smile crept onto his face as he thought of this--not that he had anything to steal at the moment. "He's also the god of thieves,""Wha?" Thomas had momentarily forgotten that bit of information and sighed inaudibly as he heard it. "....just like Brooklyn." he mumbled to himself before continuing to listen to Luke. He had figured that it would probably take a while to get determined, so he wasn't exactly surprised when he was told such a thing. This place didn't seem terrible, so he wasn't worried about the whole 'determining' thing--it would happen when it happened. "Thanks, Luke." With that said, Thomas looked around the cabin for a moment or two before finding an acceptable place to stay. With that out of the way, he started to place the few things he had on the bed but quickly decided against it. "....just like Brooklyn." he thought to himself.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

Luke watched Thomas for a bit, an amused smile tugging at his mouth. "Ah, don't worry too much about it," he called over at him, waving a hand; "I'm just messing around."
Maddie and Nate had settled onto beds near Thomas's, both of them sitting beside their packs on the beds. The boy's golden eyes wandered around the cabin, lighting on each face in the room and lingering for a few seconds before flitting to another. It wasn't hard to take note of how comfortable a lot of them seemed; yet at the same time, there were quite a few that seemed isolated and to themselves--as he was. He didn't seem to be the only one.
"If you guys brought clothes, you can change into some fresher ones... But you might not wanna just yet."
The twins looked at Luke again, who had walked over to their beds, his arms folded with another smile on his face. "What do you mean?" asked Maddie. "I mean here in a little bit," Luke continued, "we're going to play Capture the Flag."

Thomas relaxed a bit when Luke had said he was joking. He gave a sigh of relief and fell down onto his bed and gazed up at the ceiling. He would remain focused on Luke just in case he said something so he wouldn't be lost later. Eventually his interest tapered off and he started to drift toward other thoughts. 'Blah blah blah...clothes and such.' Thomas yawned. "we're going to play Capture the Flag." Thomas nearly vaulted out of bed before looking over at Luke. "Capture the Flag?" he asked, looking excited. "That's great! I haven't played in years!" he added after a moment, a small smile on his face. This place was going to be even better than he had originally thought! He was completely oblivious to the fact that he was probably going to be chewed up and spit out in a matter of hours. "I can't wait!"[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

Nate looked up from his own belongings, his amber eyes settling on Luke's face, which was turned toward a very excited Thomas. The boy said nothing, getting the strange feeling that the outdoor game wasn't as charming as Thomas seemed to think...
As her brother eyed Luke warily, Maddie smiled lightly. "Sounds...fun," she said, seeming to share the thoughts with her sibling; in a place like this who knew what Capture the Flag was like. Luke seemed amused, however, his hands held up as his shoulders shrugged. "You'll get your chance, then," he said, turning on a heel; "Since you're all settled, I'm done here; there should be a little of something to eat outside the cabins, but dinner is after Capture the Flag. Toodles." With that, the grinning boy was gone.

Thomas watched Luke leave the cabin with a smile on his face as his stomach growled loudly--though he paid it no mind. He glanced around the cabin once more before his thoughts wandered back to capture the flag and all of the excitement that could come from it. Eventually though, he started to wonder how different capture the flag would be over here. "Meh. I'll deal with it." he thought to himself. With that out of the way, he looked to the two siblings and grinned. "Well, guess I'll get settled in before it's time for Capture the Flag." he said before he turned around and took a picture frame from a sack that was on his bed. In the picture was a rather pretty woman with long dark hair with a giggling toddler in her arms. He smiled slightly at the picture before sitting it down next to his bed. He looked back at his sack and debated on getting dressed but decided against it when he remembered they would probably get dirty during the game later. "...that didn't take long." he mumbled to himself before sitting back down on the foot of the bed. With a small sigh, he glanced around once more before he layed back. "...now what?"[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

Maddie watched Thomas set the picture out, her eyes lingering on it for a few minutes. "Is that your mother?" she asked, smiling lightly at Thomas; "She's very pretty."
Nate pulled a photo from his pocket; it was small, but somehow still in very good condition, depicting a blonde woman holding two children close to her and smiling. Wordless, he handed it to his sister, who studied it for a few moments before showing it to Thomas. "This is our mom, Helena." She laughed slightly. "We were around 5 there; see, Nate used to smile a lot." The boy shook his head, fighting a small grin.
